Reduce Emissions & Increase Assets
- GWI provides service to
companies of all sizes, in and outside of North Carolina.
- GWI performs energy
surveys and analyses of existing facilities, manufacturing
equipment, and systems, and pinpoints areas where cost-reductions
and energy savings are possible.
- GWI provides companies
with Corporate Energy Management Programs (CEMP), which define a
simple, specific, and unified plan of action to control and reduce
energy consumption and emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG).
- GWI assists in
vendor/contractor selection in implementing the CEMP.
- GWI conducts quarterly
follow-up meetings and evaluations to track each company's
progress.
- GWI hosts regional
workshops on improving energy efficiency, performance contracting,
and retro-commissioning.
- GWI promotes partnering
with Energy Star, Climate Leaders, Climate Vision, and Waste Wise
programs.
II.
Report Reductions & Join the Registry
- Voluntary Reporting of
Greenhouse Gases
- GWI gathers data on all
metered energy and emissions entering and exiting the facilities
- GWI converts the data
to equivalent tons of CO 2
- GWI aggregates and
reports data to the US Department of Energy's Voluntary Reporting
of Greenhouse Gases Program (VRGG)
- GWI ensures that
company reports are transparent and always up to date with the
reporting standards required by the DOE.
- GWI establishes a
public record of industrial emissions and reductions that can be
referenced for credits as governmental pressures for mandatory
reporting of GHG emissions increases.
- GWI establishes
partnerships with emissions brokers for the trading of GHG
commodities.
III.
Additional Activities
- GWI participates in the
Cities/Counties for Climate Protection program, International
Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) offering,
which unites North Carolina's efforts to reduce GHG emissions with
cities in other countries.
- GWI hires graduate and
undergraduate interns, creating awareness of viable solutions to
the global warming problem in our future professionals.
- GWI raises awareness of
global warming as a pressing issue.
